About the blog:

This is a simple little spot on the internet for me to comment, share, and pontificate on the world of military public affairs. Sometimes serious, sometimes fun and occasionally irreverent, this blog is a personal space for me to talk about my professional life. Please take a moment to see my official disclaimer

About the author:

I am an active duty senior non-commissioned officer in the United States Army serving as a 46Z Public Affairs specialist. I joined the Army as a 19K Armor Crewman (Tanker) in 1995 and reclassified into Public Affairs in 1998. I’ve been doing this for a hot minute but am by know means the foremost expert on Public Affairs or the Army. Like everyone else, my experiences and upbringing have formed my views, opinions, and biases. It doesn’t make them right, it just makes them mine.

Because everyone in the Army will want to know, my assignments include:

1995-1998: 3-8 Cav, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division

1998-1999: Public Affairs Office, HQ, 2nd Infantry Division

1999-2001: 4th Public Affairs Detachment with duty at 1st Cavalry Division and III Corps Public Affairs offices.

2001-2003: American Forces Network, Naples, Italy

2003-2004: Soldiers Radio and Television, Office Chief of Public Affairs

2005-2006: Public Affairs Office, Multinational Force - Iraq

2006-2008: Instructor, Defense Information School, Ft. Meade, MD

2008-2010: Academic Director, Broadcast & Operations Maintenance Department, Defense Information School, Ft. Meade, MD

2010-2011: Training with Industry, Google Inc., Washington, D.C.

2011-Preseent: Public Affairs Operations NCO, 1st Cavalry Division

About the Name:

PAO stands for Public Affairs Office and NCO stands for non-commissioned officer. Pretty simple really. This is the Army after all.
